Overview: Nevada Health Centers operates 21 medical and dental sites including a Health Care for the Homeless Program, a School Based Health Program and an OB/GYN Center.  In addition we operate three Miles for Smiles Buses, the Mammovan, two WIC sites and a Community Health Pharmacy.

The School Based Medical Centers offer family practice medical care to children on their school campus. NVHC operates three school based health centers in Clark County that serve children and adolescents at ten schools. The School Based Health Centers were started by Clark County Health District in 2000. In 2005, Nevada Health Centers, Inc. assumed the operations of the School Based Health Centers because federal funding became available to assist in the operational costs. School Based Health Centers are a great way for students to access health care that they may not otherwise receive.

Target Population: Nevada Health Centers, Inc. operates three School Based Health Centers that serve ten schools in Clark County. The three centers are located at C.P. Squires Elementary School, Roy Martin Middle School, and Valley High School. Theses schools are considered “at risk” schools and most of the students are on the school lunch program. The ten schools that the School Based Health Centers serve are: CP Squires Elementary, Robert E. Lake Elementary, Sunrise Acres Elementary, Tom Williams Elementary, Desert Pines High, Rancho Valley High, JD Smith Middle School, KO Knudsen Middle School, and Roy Martin Middle School.

Staffing: Each school Based Health Center is staffed with a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, a medical assistant and a receptionist. A Physician oversees all of the medical care. Eligibility workers are available to assist parents with enrolling their children in Medicaid or Nevada Check-Up. A Health Educator travels to all the schools and provides health information to teachers and students.
