Overview:
Nevada Health Centers operates 21 medical and dental sites including a Health Care for the Homeless Program, a School Based Health Program and an OB/GYN Center. In addition we operate three Miles for Smiles Buses, the Mammovan, two WIC sites and a Community Health Pharmacy.
Martin Luther King Family
Health Center, located in Clark County, opened its doors
to serve the community with quality health care in 2000.
This facility is in Las Vegas Enterprise Park,
and the land for the facility was donated by the city. County
officials, at the urging of Commissioner Yvonne Atkinson Gates,
contributed $2 million for the construction. Martin Luther King
Family Health Center works with other occupants of the building,
such as, EOB Men’s Clinic, UMC Quick Care, University of Nevada Dental
Clinic, AHEC, and others to supply needed access to essential needs of
the community.
Target Population— Las Vegas population is
approximately 525,000 people and Clark County’s population is
approximately 1,600,000 people.
Services Provided— Family Medicine,
Women’s Health, Pediatrics, D.O.T. Physicals, Occupational Health,
STD/HIV Education & Screening, Family Planning, Periodic Screenings for Kids &
Adults, Well-Child Care and Immunizations, Prenatal and Newborn Care,
Chronic Illness Management, Health Education.
Staffing:
Martin Luther King is staffed with one MD and two
Physician Assistants (PA-C). There are three back office and three
front office support staff. A Medicaid Eligibility Specialist
frequents the clinic, along with Vista and Americorps volunteers to
assist the community in education of available programs. One day per
week, Midwifes are also staffed to see prenatal patients.
